This little radio works very well and is easy to program, but take the time to read the manual to understand all of its features and capabilities. It will sound alarms for many different types of events, some of which you may not want to be alerted to in the middle of the night, but you can program each type of alert to be active or not. Reception has not been a problem, and I don't leave the antenna extended. Sound quality is adequate. The only complaint I have is that the readout is difficult to see unless you activate the backlighting. I would recommend it as a way to stay alerted to weather emergencies in your specific area.
